How to Use Car Shampoo
Most scratches from car washing are caused by sand on the paint being dragged by the wash mitt. With the right order and the right equipment, you can use car shampoo effectively without damaging the paint.
Before you start
- Wash the car in the shade while the paint is cool; in the sun the shampoo dries quickly and leaves marks.
- Prepare two buckets, a microfibre wash mitt and clean drying towels.
- Check the dilution ratio on the car shampoo pack.
Washing a car step by step
- Pre-wash: Rinse the car from top to bottom with plenty of water to remove loose dust and sand. If you have foam equipment, apply foam, leave briefly and rinse.
- Prepare two buckets: Put car shampoo and water at the ratio stated on the pack in the first bucket and only clean water in the second.
- Wash from top to bottom: Start with the roof, windows, bonnet and boot; leave the dirtiest areas, the lower panels and bumpers, until last.
- Rinse the mitt often: After each panel, first swish the mitt in the clean water bucket, then dip it in the shampoo bucket. This way sand isn't carried back onto the paint.
- Rinse with plenty of water: Rinse from top to bottom without leaving shampoo residue.
- Dry: Dry by pressing with a clean microfibre towel; don't let hard water dry on the surface.
Care after washing
After washing, tyre shine can be applied to the tyre sidewalls. In winter, filling the washer reservoir with antifreeze washer fluid delays freezing.
For car wash businesses
In busy car washes, preparing shampoo at a fixed ratio with a dosing system or measuring cup gives consistent results and keeps consumption under control. TETİK Car Shampoo comes in 20 kg and 30 kg canisters; product information is on the car shampoos page.
